Molly X Nick Litter

Intl CH Aldebarans Feeling Groovy x Intl CH Nicholas of Aldebaran RN CA

Puppies were born on 3/24/2021

3 yellow females and 4 yellow males !
Unfortunately one of the males had his umbilical wrapped around his leg which caused his death during delivery. These types of occurences happen and it is always heartbreaking to go through, so if you are planning on breeding, this is the reality of it.  Breeding is not for everyone.  I just want to make sure folks understand this and don't just jump into it thinking it always is sunshine and lollipops in the whelping room.  Now for the good part!

Molly is doing great after her 7 hours of pre-labor and whelping!

The puppies are all darker than Molly and resemble their sire's deep coat color!

The six healthy happy puppies were primarily 1 pounders except one male which was 13 ounces at birth.

We gave her a cave in the house so we could keep an eye on her progression towards whelping.

Birthday for puppies!

I'm continuing sleeping in the kennel building with the pups.  I will do this for at least the first 10 days.  We will begin the biosensor program on day 4 and continue it through day 16.  I will leave it to you to research what that program is and what the benefits are to the puppies!  Bedding is washed twice a day as well.  Busy, busy, busy!  Notice in the following photos how the pups are born with a little pigment and as they mature the pigment gets darker.  Enjoy!

This has been my view every night for the first 9 days of their lives!
I really don't mind sleeping on my blow up bed in the kennel building.  Better safe than sorry!
All the puppy noises!
Some nights I get up a lot to check on the pups and then as they get older, I only have to get up a time or two.

3 weeks old!

Puppies have teeth now!  They have also been wormed a second time!  They are walking better now so we added a litter box for them.  We used a rabbit hutch tray and pine pellets to begin with and then we switched to alfalfa pellets which you will see in later photos. They have interactive toys with flashing lights and voices added now, and yes they have started to eat dog food at 3 1/2 weeks!

Molly is now standing up to nurse her pups!  Tiny little nails are sharp even when trimmed!

Yep, also figuring out how to get out of the whelping box!  Time for a new board to raise the wall height!

Picture
Time to start supplementing the pups! Evaporated milk, cheese, yogurt, just to make it yummy!  Started this at 3 1/2 weeks of age.  Molly appreciates it!  Whatever the pups don't eat, she gets!!!  Right now they are realistically just slurping up the milk and nibbling on the cheese.

Picture
Where is the food at?  They are trying to figure that out!

They have it all figured out now!
